Pietro Paolo Dinapoli is an Italian classical and electric guitarist.
His artistic journey primarily focuses on contemporary music, intertwining instrumental practice with artistic research in the musical field.
He is a founding member of Azione_Improvvisa Ensemble and H[t] Duo and has collaborated with ensembles such as MDI and Syntax.
He has collaborated with renowned composers such as Rachel Beja, Zeno Baldi, Farzia Fallah, Daniela Fantechi, Mauro Lanza, José Manuel López López, Marco Momi, Lula Romero, Javier Torres Maldonado, Giovanni Verrando, Roberto Vetrano, often premiering their works.
Dinapoli has performed both in Italy and internationally for prestigious institutions, including the Tallinn Music Academy (Estonia), Villa Medici (Rome), Conservatoire Populaire de Musique (Geneva), and Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). He has been invited to perform as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals such as Milano Musica, Transart (Bolzano), IGNM Bern, Unerhörte Musik (Berlin), OpenDays (Aalborg), Sound of Wander (Milan), Arsenale Nuove Musiche (Treviso), Musica Insieme di Panicale, Contrasti (Trento), Pergine Festival, and the Tage für Neue Musik in Darmstadt. His recordings have been released by Stradivarius, Ema Vinci, Ars Spoletium, and Liquen Records (Spain).
Dinapoli has conducted lectures and seminars on contemporary guitar performance and composition techniques at conservatories in Milan, Alessandria, Pescara, and Piacenza. Passionate about analytical and musicological aspects, he has published articles in the journals Il Fronimo and Guitart. Alongside Giuseppe Mennuti, he founded Obiettivo Contemporaneo, an online platform dedicated to contemporary guitar repertoire analysis and exploration.
He studied guitar and chamber music with Marco Salcito and Tilman Hoppstock, as well as composition with Mauro Bonifacio, earning his degrees in guitar and chamber music with top honors.
He attended masterclasses with maestros Pablo Marquez, Timo Korhonen, Oscar Ghiglia, Tilman Hoppstock and Carlo Marchione.
He is the artistic director and chamber music teacher of the summer course “City of Venosa, in the footsteps of Gesualdo”.
He is currently pursuing a PhD at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan and has also studied Mathematics at the University of Bari.
