H[t] DUO

H[t] Duo, formed by electronic performer Matteo Tundo (faculty member at the Brescia Conservatory) and guitarist Pierpaolo Dinapoli (Ph.D. student at the Milan Conservatory), presents a program that emphasizes instrumental and musical research for this innovative and recently formed ensemble.
The main themes of this repertoire address both technical and musical aspects, aiming to explore new expressive and performative possibilities.
From a musical perspective, the focus is on the marked interplay between the electronic performer and a traditional yet highly versatile instrument like the classical guitar. Through meticulous compositional writing and innovative interaction models, the duo seeks to establish a profound and dynamic dialogue between these two sonic worlds, redefining the role of each in the performance.
On the technical side, the program explores how specific instrumental and technological solutions can transform musical practice. For instance, the use of contact microphones, lo-fi piezoelectric microphones, and other unconventional amplification devices not only amplifies the instrument but also creates a unique “voice” for the guitar, distancing it from the fidelity of the original sound and becoming an integral part of the creative process. These solutions also redefine the gestural and performative aspects of instrumental practice, offering new technical and artistic perspectives.
With its concert programs, H[t] Duo aims to redefine the relationship between tradition and
innovation, offering a unique perspective on the expressive possibilities of guitar and electronics in contemporary music.

The ensemble focuses on four key principles:

  • Development of New Repertoire: Commissioning and performing works written specifically for this unique combination of instruments.
  • Exploration of Interactive and Performative Forms: Pioneering new approaches to live performance that integrate acoustic and electronic elements.
  • Focus on Microphonation and Diffusion: Innovating sound projection techniques to create immersive auditory experiences.
  • Interplay: The duo prioritizes the presence of the electronics performer on stage and encourages detailed compositional writing to foster a strong chamber-music interplay. This collaboration between the guitarist and the electronic performer creates a dynamic and distinctive musical dialogue, establishing interplay as a defining feature of H[t] Duo’s identity.

Questo scambio vivo e dinamico tra i due musicisti è ciò che rende unico ogni loro concerto.
